Swan Island Lakeside Centre, famous for its 200 year old Irish cottage restaurant and activity centre, opened a new caravan & motorhome facility earlier this year.

Already the compliments are pouring in. Martina & Brian Smith of the Irish Camping & Caravan Club wrote to say "thank you for a very enjoyable stay ....

The meal we had on Saturday evening in your restaurant was second to none a big thank you to the chef, and the waiting staff were very friendly and efficient.

We will be recommending the site to our club and those of us who were down there already will be back in the near future." Check us out for yourselves

Call Ann or Pat on 049 4333065 or log on to www.swanisland.ie

Stayed here fro a couple of nights and would agree with most of the comments...the site is unmarked pitches, more of a carpark really...but that's not an issue. the restaurant is absolutely fantastic. I do think though that it is the restaurant that all the resources are being put into.
The wildlife park is fascinating for kids but really the toilet block and showers for the campers is something bordering on insulting...! It's a complete hovel. Never seen anything so disgusting in my life....a brilliant spot let down yet again by the Services block. Disappointing to say the least.

Thanks Declan.
I was getting excited reading the reports on this site as i had not heard of if and so had not tried it out. Then tg someone finaly tells it as it realy is for camper folk once again the dreaded facility issue arises and hello, its the same old story all over again. Thanks for the input you have saved me a long drive to Leitrim to try it out. I will be adding it to my list of not to visit places. Happy Camping. Jesse.

Hi Guy's.

If ye want a good night (safe) wild camping go out the elfin road from Carrigonshannon for about 3 miles there ye will find the Tatched pub there is lots of room to park in the car park at side of the pub, if you are there alone they will let you park inside the gate and will give u hook up if required at no charge there is also a toilet and room with washing machine and dryer to use if desired. the yard is a little wild and overgrown but hy ur wild camping. I have stayed there a few times when in that part of the country there is nearly always a session traditional/ bluegrass or otherwise going on no charge for this either. There is a bottle hanging off the ceiling for donations for the musicians and thats it. Well worth a visit Happy Camping. Jesse.
