Stayed at Nore Valley Kilkenny on Sat Night.
There was about 6 MH's And 4 Caravans.
We had'nt been there for some time but nothing has changed. the washing up room was dirty and smelly.
The toilets had'nt been swept or cleaned in a long time wash hand basins dirty muck on floor.copwebs and dead flies on celings.as this is just the start of the season would hate to see it when it is busy.

The chemical disposal toilet does not flush and when you empty the contents down the toilet there is no way of flushing
In the book this is a 3* park it also states (A high standard of cleanliness is a priority throughout the site and amenities)
It's just another one that takes all and does nothing to improve the site.if anything falls apart it is just left there, the crazy golf is one example ,falling apart.
The recycling bins were full.the small animal houses need cleaning out.
The good points were plenty of hot water if you risked using the showers.and a nice walk down by the River Nore

Adverts | Friends Nore Valley Kilkenny, bad experience

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have just returned from the worst camping trip of our lives.

On arriving at Nore Valley, Kilkenny, my family, like many other annoyed campers, were seperated into 3 different fields. We were very rudely told that the site do not accept group bookings. This is not advertised on their website. Many campers stayed 1 night then left the following morning.

We were given a list of camp rules, of which included "everyone in their own tents at 11.30" and "lights out at 12.00". The owner goes around with a flashlight at 12.15 making sure no-ones talking in their tents!
My sister was in my parents tent when he was doing his rounds and they were asked to go asleep!
The following day my sister was asked to pay a 50e fine for breaking the "no talking in the tent after midnight" rule!
My parents refused and we were asked to leave....at 10pm with 6 small children.

We have travelled all over Europe and have never come across anything like this before. The campsite owner and his wife are the rudest people we have ever met.
We do not recommend you stay here if you want to spend quality time with your family.

Just found this on another forum seems nothing changed there.
Scooter .it was €20 +€2 for EHU.€22 badly spent will never be back.

The previous posts all seems to say one thing about this site - and that's a clear "Avoid at all costs". And I certainly know the reputation of the site from reading 3 different board contents

However, before anyone makes a lasting decision, it would be useful to read all the posts from the aforementioned posting on the other board. There are some very positive comments about the site, and I think that there may be a case of a disgruntled voice being heard over the positive comments.

I have been to this site, with 2 young girls, and while I agree that the owner may have some rules that people do find draconian, people seem to forget that it is their private property, you pay and accept the rules, and if you don't accept the rules, don't pay and don't stay. After all, if you ran a B&B, would you not have some rules you would expect people to adhere to.

I for one appreciate the knowledge that I won't be woken up by the loud behaviour of others late at night. (There's a posting around here about a site in Lahinch and problems in the recent past). I also acknowledge that the owners may have a manner of speaking which some may find curt and abrasive (which I have personally experienced - and while hurt at the time, was able to see beyond the "manner" of speaking), but then are we all perfect in how we talk to others?

Whatever you decide, that's up to you, but I for one would not hesitate to visit the site again, as the facilities provided, especially for the kids, are in my opinion worth the money - particualry coming from a non-farming environment.

Enjoy Wicklow DW, but if you've never been to Nore Valley, read all the other comments before you pass final judgement.

And no - I'm not related to or being paid by the owner of Nore Valley!
